Gebre Kirstos Desta

  • Born  on 1932 in the town of Harar and died on1981 in Lawton, OK.

  • Went to Haile Selassie 1st school, finished at general wingate high school. then joined science department at AAU.

Teddy Afro

  • Born on 14 July 1976

  • His first album Abugida was a milestone in contemporary music in Ethiopia

  • His songs about Emperor Haileselassie I and the great athlete Haile Gebreselassie were among the best selling and most played songs for years.

  • His third album, Yasteseryal, was released in 2005. This album was one of the most influential and controversial.

  • His fourth album, Tikur Sew, was released in 2012. Tribute to Emperor Minilik II

  • Teddy Afro's fifth album entitled Ethiopia was sold for about 5 million Ethiopian Birr (more than 217,000 USD).

  • Majoring in Architecture, I am interested in photography because it inspires me and I have so much passion for it. Why I decided to join Habesha Youth Artists is because what i was looking for. I think it's a great idea, it will help us share our though and ideas and help us come out strong and bold. My favorite quote will be “Don’t count the days; make the days
